History
The Birth of Shinhan Bank
Shinhan Bank traces its origins to the Korean diaspora in Japan who wanted to contribute to their country through finance. On July 7, 1982, Shinhan Bank was launched as the first private bank in Korea, bringing innovations to the domestic financial environment with customer-friendly financial services, and contributing to the advancement and internationalization of the financial industry with active initiatives toward e-banking and globalization. In a short period of time, Shinhan Bank emerged as a blue-chip bank by establishing a nationwide network, going public with an initial public offering, and laying the foundation for a comprehensive financial group.
