1981 A group of golf-loving Korean diaspora in Japan collaborated to create the Donghae Open Golf Championship.
1989 Changed its name to “Shinhan Donghae Open” with Shinhan SFG as a sponsor.
2008 Launched the “Share the Hope” Campaign for the underprivileged.
2019 Transformed into Asia's leading international tournament, as the first event to be tri-sanctioned by the Asian Tour, Korean Tour and Japan Golf Tour.

The Shinhan Donghae Open, which marks its 40th anniversary this year, has contributed to the development of the domestic golf industry since its establishment in 1981 to develop Korean golf and discover outstanding players, establishing itself as an international major competition representing Asia.
