Shinhan Capital was established in April 1991 under the name ‘Shinhan Lease’ with an aim to contribute to the equal development of the national economy by promoting the development of local-based companies and localization of machineries through renting facilities such as factory facilities as per the Act on the Support of Facility Rent Industry. Afterwards, it has been responding to internal and external changes in financial environment with agility and has expanded its business areas. In 1999, it was renamed to the current name ‘Shinhan Capital’ and stepped up to a comprehensive and specialized credit financial company that handles a wide range of services. They include facility rent (lease), installment financing, new technology business financing, restructuring, real estate PF, structured finance, PEF, mezzanine, acceptance financing, factoring, and general loan.

Shinhan Captial, in its early stage of establishment, focused on automobile and machineries ∙ facility lease/installment financing sales and corporate financing, thereby contributed to the national growth in the 1990’s, the times of Korea’s hypergrowth. Through preemptive risk management, it managed to continue growth weathering against great shocks including the 1998 Asian Financial Crisis and 2008 Global Financial Crisis. Recently, it has widened its presence in alternative and venture investment markets and succeeded in growing into a comprehensive and specialized credit financial company with a strength in investment banking. Also, after the establishment of Shinhan Financial Group in September 2001, it strived to make more contact point with customers through connected sales with diverse companies in the group such as Shinhan Bank, Shinhan Venture Investment, and others. Through such measures, it provided more competitive financial conditions and services and positioned itself as a comprehensive and specialized credit financial company that leads the industry.
